AT-PAC Supports Shell Scottford Expansion in the Athabasca Oilsands Project
AT-PAC is proud to have been the supplier of scaffold material for the expansion of major petrochemical upgrader, which is part of the Athabasca Oils Sands Project in Alberta, Canada. The upgrader expansion is located 40 km northeast of Edmonton, in Alberta Canada. The existing facility produced 100,000 barrels of Bitumen per day, and with the recent expansion is expected to produce over 250,000 barrels per day, employing over 750 permanent staff.
This expansion was a 7 billion dollar project and spanned a 2.7-year long period starting in 2008. Over 9,000 temporary employees were employed – including as many as 1,500 scaffolders.
AT-PAC was able to supply the entire project with the required scaffold material and also offer solutions in logistics, material tracking and efficient build designs. Scaffold products such as System Scaffold, Aluminum Tube, Wedge Clamps, Aluminum Beam, Lattice Girders, and Wood and Steel Planking were provided along with other specifically designed products such as Delivery Wagons, Specialized Stacking Racks and Steel Baskets.
An excess of 10,500 tonnes or 450 truckloads of scaffold were used for this project.
Interesting Statistics:
| Total number of Wedge Clamps | 1,050,000 (The weight of 1600 adult elephants) |
| Total lineal feet of Aluminum Tube | 4,008,000 (Enough tube to stretch from New York to Atlanta) |
| Total lineal feet of Aluminum Beam | 598,000 |
| Total lineal feet of Wood Plank | 104,000 |
| Total lineal feet of Vertical Standards | 545,000 (512 x the height of the Eiffel Tower when stacked end to end) |
| Total lineal feet of Ledgers | 1,100,000 (Enough ledgers to stretch from Los Angeles to Las Vegas) |
| Total pieces of scaffolding required: | 2,560,000 |
